a common phrase I’ve heard and used all my life. For my grandchildren, or those who may have never heard that phrase, it basically means that after all is said and done, or after it is all over, what really matters is ______(fill in the blank). For me, it all boils down to the people I am blessed to have in my life.

Aug 28 - September Lucienne's Birthday and Baptism
We drove from San Francisco back to Oregon for a very important occasion.
Lucienne was so happy and excited. As we sat waiting for the baptism to start,
I felt such a feeling of peace. I felt the spirit and love in that room.
We gave Luci her baptism blanket.
Such a sweet face.
The Fam and selfie stick grandpa.
The whole crew.
Luci helping make cinnamon rolls for her after baptism party.
Close up with her quilt.
We had a couple of days before the baptism, so we got to see
Luci in her gymnastics class and spend some time outside.
They got started on the Giant's puzzle.
Justin finished it the day after we left.
And to cap our road trips up: Luci and Annie sent a picture of a lego man with a selfie stick that Luci got for her birthday.

San Francisco August 26-29
I felt very nostalgic in the Bay area. Growing up that was where we vacationed every year. Gary and Lynn lived there and later Tom did also. There are so many memories, and I always think of Chuck when we go to Pier 39.
We stopped at a lighthouse on the way (and took selfies, of course)
We drove by the high school Justin went to in San Bruno.
And went to a Giant's game (Giants lost, but we had a wonderful time and you couldn't beat the view).
We went to Alcatraz, which was a first for me.
We went to Pier 39 on the 29th for a very special reason. They have a shop that makes giant crepes, and it was a certain 8 year old's birthday that day.
The kids thought this was a very appropriate sign for Grandpa.
Justin and I got to be part of a magic show.
Then it was time to leave, but we brought the breakfast buffet up to Gary.

Go fishing, play baseball, play football, play basketball, go to Hang Time, Dunk basketballs with LeBron James, and as we're doing it call him an idiot. Go talk to Megan Fox and say a lot of stuff. Go to Cardinals and throw (Someone -- can't read my writing) out on second base. Crowd would roar, "Hyrum, Hyrum, Hyrum." Go to eat at Cracker Barrel and buy a big bacon burger and eat with Yadier Molina and Marshawn Lynch.
Here is your birthday hug, Hyrum.
We love you!

Beach House August 24-26
After spending the night in Reno after leaving Salt Lake, we met up on the beach with the Idiarts. Looking at these pictures make me so happy! The nice thing about this trip is that Tiffany planned it all -- down to planning an itinerary, making reservations, and buying tickets to events.
Eliza acking like Grandpa, keeping his mouth open and making faces while taking selfies. |
Golfing at a beautiful course. |
