Sometimes

I have to rethink what I need to focus my time and energies on.  I seem to have a running commentary of negative thoughts in my mind about what I am, or am not, doing.  Or when I find that I don't have an abundant heart and am judging or feeling envious or critical of others.

I was reading this quote by Sheri Dew:

"Those who think of life as a personal ministry tend to be less lonely, less likely to feel that life has spun out of control, more inclined to have a a gentle heart, more filled with purpose."

That is a beautiful thought.  Thinking of life itself as a personal ministry, no matter where we live or what we do.  We may minister to many different people in many different ways, but if our hearts are softened we find  life more filled with purpose.

"Those who think of life as a personal ministry look with a different perspective. It can change our attitude.   How do you know what your personal ministry is?   I always felt that my personal ministry was to raise my children.  Then when that is no longer so well defined, we have to follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost to see what our purpose could be now.

So how do you decide what your personal ministry on this life is?  Raising young children is definitely a ministry of great importance.  When the children are no longer under our every day stewardship, we can almost float at sea with no direction or rudder and go where the wind blows us.

I'm Thinking of what I want my personal ministry will be for the remaining years of my life   Whatever it is, I want to do it with an abundant heart and a positive perspective.

What do you think your personal ministry is?

Misty, if you are having a mid-life crisis then what do you call your mother's crisis?
