Last night we went

with Natalie and Trent to celebrate Natalie's 30th  birthday.

Her gift was tickets to the Paul McCartney concert in August
And a medal, because I deprived her of one when she was little
(a long story, but one she blackmails me with all the time)!

We had a wonderful evening with our
wonderful daughter.

Goodbye Easter

decorations on my rotating shelf.

Oh, dear!   I just realized I never took any pictures of them.  Oh, well.  That's my life lately.

Finally, a day at home.

Here are a few of my activities last week.

Thursday night was our Primary Stake meeting.  I didn't take any pictures of the medals and suckers we made for those, but suffice it to say that my kitchen floor was sticky for days.

On Friday morning, I went to the graveside service for the mother of my childhood friend, Kim Thomas.  I haven't seen her for almost 30 years, which was when her dad died.  We spent many hours at each others homes growing up, and she was a bridesmaid at our wedding.     It was so nice reconnecting with her.

Then I went up to help set up the "Girl's night out" that Loralee was having for her daughter.

On Saturday Gary went up with me as we helped set up for the
party after the sealing of their daughter.

Sunday, after church, I made our traditional bunny cakes and 6 dozen coconut cupcakes and 7 dozen chocolate cream cheese cupcakes.  (I have several events coming up where I need them)  We had Easter dinner at Gary and Lynn's and celebrated  Sadie and Natalie's birthdays, which are this week.

It really was nice to have a day at home to fold laundry and do household chores.

I'm feeling very proud of my grandson, Jackson,

right now. And my heart is feeling very tender.

We were able to facetime with the family in Missouri tonight as they gathered for Jackson to open his mission call.  We all made predictions on where he would be called (I said San Diego), but none of us were right.

We were almost in shock when he read that he was being called to the "Salt Lake City Mission."

Wow!!!  I never imagined he would be so close.  It makes my heart feel tender to know he will be serving here.

It will be an amazing experience for him, as the Salt Lake mission is one of the strongest in the Church.  He will also make be able to continue his associations with those he serves when he plays BYU baseball here for four years.

And, I can make cookies or cinnamon rolls for him one day and they would be there the next.

This is amazing.   I love this boy so much.

These little

BUNNIES have been HOPPING out of the house at a rapid pace.

The process of trying recipes to put in them started in Oregon with Tiffany.

We made 3 different versions (no one seemed to mind being the guinea pigs)  and finally came up with the one we liked.

Then when Lynn was here we perfected it even more.

Before cooking:

After cooking:

Loralee created the tags a few years ago, and I've wanted to try them for awhile.   Here is the recipe and directions we ended up with.

Layer 3/4 cup of M&Ms on bottom of jar.  Take a set of 8 Peeps and push them up against the jar. Combine the graham crackers, flour, and salt in a plastic bag and close the top.  Put the bag down inside of the peeps and up to the top of the jar.

Here are the directions on the tag:   Remove bag of ingredients from jar.  In a bowl combine with the dry ingredients ½ cup butter, 1 egg,  1 teaspoon vanilla.    In an 8x8 pan spread batter onto bottom of the pan.  Sprinkle the M&Ms over the mixture.   Snip the bunnies into bits with kitchen shears and sprinkle over the mixture.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes until they are golden brown.   Cool completely and cut into bars.  Enjoy!

Here is the list of ingredients:
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 sleeve graham crackers
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Dash salt
  • 3/4 c. m&ms
  • 8 large peeps cut up

And . . .

I'm always so grateful

for family.

Just a few of the events from the last week . . .

So much to catch up on . . .

but not enough time!   We enjoyed the visits of Margie and Lance's granddaughters this weekend.

We had more than enough of the sticky buns (how they looked before baking)

I loved all the messages from General Conference.   (I took great notes and will share later)

7 hours up in Draper today, and another 4 at home.

Talked to Misty and Jackson submitted his mission paper today!  (That almost makes me cry)

We're excited to have Tom and Lynn come tomorrow.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

It was nice to have a

day off from going into work today.  I had a lot of housework to catch up on.  Three of Margie and Lance's granddaughters are coming up for conference and are going to spend 2 nights here and Tom and Lynn are coming in on Tuesday.  So of course, I did my usual frantic catch up.

As I was sweeping, I thought about how much I love the broom Charlene gave me.  It is hand made with a branch for the handle.  I admired hers at Thanksgiving and I became a happy recipient of one.   I think of her every time I use it.

Then I was putting together the Bunny Hollow basket and admired once again the beautiful cones that my friend Barbara made.  Here are three of the twelve she made.  Each have amazing details, and are filled with cloths and toiletries.
