a common phrase I’ve heard and used all my life. For my grandchildren, or those who may have never heard that phrase, it basically means that after all is said and done, or after it is all over, what really matters is ______(fill in the blank). For me, it all boils down to the people I am blessed to have in my life.

Good-bye
to "Bees" on my Rotating Shelf.
Natalie has great reservation with my "Bee" or "Beehive" collection. She is petrified of Bees. While I don't like bees, I do love the idea of the beehive (Utah's symbol is the beehive because it represents industry). I also like the idea of "bee-ing"
My favorite items in my "Bee Collection" are the aprons I made from tea towels that Mom made me for my "trousseau." (That's a word I haven't heard in a long time)
I cut the embroidery part from the well used dishtowels and used them in the aprons.

This has been my
rotating shelf and hutch theme for, let's see . . ., 4 months now. I've never been so lazy. I didn't even switch out for the 4th of July. (But don't tell Natalie, as I don't think she noticed. Or if she did, she was nice enough not to bug me about it.)
My "friend" has been hanging out in her newest apron, too.
Cupcake themed, so she would fit in.
This was a fun one to make and to layer
with the crocheted apron that came from my Great Aunt Elner's house.
And I'll leave you with this inspirational thought
from the cupcake cutting board I have:
"Be sure to celebrate the many Small things . . .
bright days, good friends and
Anything with sprinkles!

A little late, but goodbye chocolate and
Valentines.
One of the decorations I have is this framed card.

Just in case anyone has any doubt, I really love chocolate.

I love
Autumn.
I love everything about Autumn.
I love the crispness in the air.
I love the changing of the leaves.
I love it as it gets darker sooner
(so I can snuggle into my pajamas earlier).
The Autumn season brings out my nesting instincts.
I want to feather my nest with with comfort and warmth.
I want to bake, and cook, and eat comfort foods.
I love it when I can cuddle up in a throw to get warm
and wear jackets every day.
I suppose the only thing I don't love about
the change to fall is the need to
wear socks and shoes instead of sandals.
But that is just a small inconvenience.
Today I put up the fall decorations on my
The hutch is something else that I also love.
Dad built it for me.
I guess I'm just feeling lots of love today
.
.
Which is not a bad thing at all.

I've had some fun breaks from
my de-junking the last few days. I went to lunch with my friend, Dianne, for her birthday. I went to a card making class on Tuesday with my ward group. Tonight we met at my house with my other creative card making friends. Here is what we made tonight.
I've also made a few more crockpot meals, which I will post later. I've tried a new Peanut Butter Cupcake Recipe, which I really like. I'll post that recipe later, too. "Later" seems to be a very active word in my vocabulary lately!
As I was sitting at the table making the cards, I realized I haven't shown pictures of my "rotating shelf" in a while. Right now it is a generic style, with the theme being LIVE LOVE LAUGH. (I keep looking at it as I dejunk and try to remember to LIVE (SIMPLY), LOVE (BARE SPACES), AND LAUGH (AS I TOSS THINGS NOW and not Later.

Valentines
and Chocolate.
They definitely go together.
There's nothing like
having a meeting
or party or
guests to your home
or party or
guests to your home
to make you finally get your Christmas Decorations down
and PUT AWAY.

BOO!
I found my camera!
It was on top of the washer.
I didn't even look in the laundry room
because, since the redo, I don't
make piles there anymore.
(Honestly!)
Not because I'm a reformed
stash and dasher,
but because there's nowhere to set things.
Other than (I guess) on top of the washer.

Bee Happy
I kept the cupcakes up for 4 months
and skipped the 4th of July.
I thought no one had noticed,
but Natalie assured me she had.
I felt justified, though,
because we weren't even here for the 4th.
I've also skipped "back to school,"
and have put up the 'bee theme."
Dianne borrowed my "bee stuff" for a
RS thing in her ward last week.
That gave me the idea to use the "bee theme" for a
"Quick and Easy breakfast"
mini class I'm doing in September.
Something like:
"Bee-gin your day in a Bee-utiful Way"
Cheesy? Yeah.
But I have all these cute decorations and cloths.
My kids will probably laugh when they read that I'm teaching that.
My idea of quick and easy breakfast when they
were growing up was cold cereal they could pour themselves.
The occasions we made special, but that was about it.
I'll be sure to make that disclaimer when I give the mini class.
But, I'm looking for some fun, easy, and yummy breakfasts
and am soliciting ideas from any cooks who may be reading this.
Please do. What do you like for breakfast.?
Even better if it rhymes with bee or honey
(ok I'm just kidding there)
Well that's a long explanation of why
I now have bees on my rotating shelf.

My Rotating Shelf
Just a little explanation.
In my younger years, when I had a lot more energy and ambition,
I tried to decorate the whole main part of the house for each holiday.
Crazy? Yes!
I've slowly gotten much older and wiser,
and cut back quite a bit.
There have been times when I've wanted to cut back altogether,
especially with some of the holidays.
However, I have responded to daughter pressure
and kept it up to an extent.
I'm still reminded by Becky, one of Natalie's friends,
of the time I skipped St. Patrick's Day.
Shame on me.
So, thus the creation of the "Rotating Shelf."
Obviously, the shelf itself doesn't rotate,
but rather the contents on it do.
By containing all the decorations to the shelf
it has made the whole process much less overwhelming
and time consumming.
At any given time the shelf will contain
Holiday decorations:
Valentines, St. Patricks Day, Easter, 4th of July,
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
In between, it is filled
with whatever I'm into at the time:
Snowmen, Gardening, Flowers, Bees, Cupcakes,
Chocolate, Back to School, Fall
I have to admit that I do enjoy it, too.
That is once I get the energy
and clear a path to where it is stored.
Fortunately, I have a very nice storage room
on the 4th level of the house that my dad built for me.
It even has a big work table in the middle of it.
We call it "The Deep."
Natalie grew up thinking that all basements
were called "the Deep" and didn't understand
for a long time why no one knew what she was
talking about when she called a basement that.
I digress.
I'll have to have a posting on "The Deep" some other time.
Maybe if I ever get it looking organized, Ill even take a picture.
So, anyway, that is the story of the Rotating Shelf.
And since it is March,
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
